Karen Higginbottom

Freelance Journalist & Writer

Welcome to my website

I'm a freelance journalist with 19 years' experience of writing on workplace, leadership and diversity issues. As a former senior reporter for Personnel Today and People Management, I've written on HR and business issues, covering subjects such as leadership development, employee engagement, diversity, recruitment, pay and a host of other work-related topics. If you want someone who writes clear, incisive copy on subjects ranging from the rights of transsexuals in the workplace to pitfalls of office romance, please read on!

Since venturing into the world of freelance journalism in January 2004, I've written primarily on workplace and business topics for a range of national newspapers and business magazines, including for Raconteur supplements, The Guardian, Independent and Changeboard magazine. Although my main specialism is quirky workplace stories, I'm capable of producing investigative articles on more weighty topics such as the gender pay gap and racial discrimination in the Crown Prosecution Service.  I'm currently a freelance contributor for Raconteur and Thomson Reuters Compliance, a website that focuses on HR and employment issues in the City.  I've also written and edited reports for corporate clients such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Mercer and Deloitte.
